Wise will join Douglas Waller, author of the best-selling biography Wild Bill Donovan: The Spymaster Who Created The OSS And Modern American Espionage, and former CIA operative Kent Clizbe, whose new book Willing Accomplices examines the effects of KGB propaganda on American institutions.
Michael Hayden, former director of NSA and CIA, is the keynote speaker for the 7th Raleigh Spy Conference (www.raleighspyconference.com). Hayden will address the build-up and background details of the mission to kill Usama Bin Laden.
Michael Sulick, former director of CIA’s National Clandestine Service; Brian Kelley, former CIA counterintelligence officer; Nigel West, British intelligence expert and author; and Dan Mulvenna, former security officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will present sessions on the role of espionage “illegals and “sleeper cells” from the early days of spying to today and the 2010 expulsion of ten Russian “illegals” from the US.
The conference also announced that representatives from the CIA’s Historical Publications Collection will distribute complimentary booklets to registrants containing declassified documents covering major Cold War events, including the Korean War, Air American and the Warsaw Pact.
