CIA, FBI, NCIS Headline Raleigh Spy Conference
March 12, 2009 (RALEIGH, NC) -- A Central Intelligence Agency officer, an FBI special agent, an investigator for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, a British historian, and a former Member of Parliament – known as the “Expert’s Expert” in matters of espionage – headline the sixth Raleigh Spy Conference, “Sexspionage: Famous Women Spies and the Ancient Art of Seduction,” to be held March 25-27 at the North Carolina Museum of History in downtown Raleigh, NC.
“We’ve had KGB, CIA, ONI, undercover operatives and the top scholars in the field of intelligence over the past five years in Raleigh to address the constantly changing rewrite of modern history created by the flood of declassified documents from the Cold War and beyond since the collapse of the USSR,” said Bernie Reeves, conference founder and editor and publisher of Raleigh Metro Magazine (www.metronc.com).
“This year it’s about the role of lady spies who were responsible for many of the most daring intelligent operations of the modern era - while others played a notorious role working against the U.S.,” he added. “And the role of sex in real-life spy adventures has been center stage though the ages.”
The Raleigh Spy Conference is known worldwide for creating a forum for the general public to hear first hand the latest reports from the shadowy world of spies from the top experts in the field.
“Registrants come from all over and down the street to take in the atmosphere and the presentations and to be able to talk and socialize with our speakers, says Reeves.
Sponsors for the 6th Raleigh Spy Conference include Rosemary and Smedes York and Florence and Charles Winston. This year the conference is presented in association with NC State University’s Department of Political Science, Andrew Taylor, Chairman.
